Week 5 — Silence

Week 5 — Silence

Hello MKMMAers, world, etc. whoever is out there!

I’ve realized this week that there is a connection between the Og Mandino chapter 9 and the homework this week of being the observer.  It is not loving to constantly give my opinion on everything to everyone!  I believe I learned this habit from my mother, who is super opinionated and sure that she is right.  I sat down with a new friend for coffee yesterday and as we talked for a couple of hours, I found myself biting my tongue again and again.  Listening and not interjecting my opinion is hard work!  I slipped up a couple of times but did not get upset, I just observed what had happened.  My husband said he had noticed I was not as critical and opinionated this week so I must have been doing better than I thought!  I also realized that is it much easier not to have an opinion in terms of mental effort/brainwork.  Takes the pressure off when you can just listen to the other person instead of formulating an opinion about what they are saying.  I will continue this habit! Now if only I could teach it to my mother…LOL.

Great progress in just a few short days! It does take the pressure off when we give no opinions!
